Cheryl Yannotti Foland: She’s Simplifying Beauty

FIRST THOUGHT: Beauty Simplified

The other day, I bought my favorite hair product since I was running low. Later, while digging through my linen closet, I encountered the exact same product unopened. Now that I have enough hair goo to last me through the year 2020, it’s dawned on me that beauty products may be my kryptonite. After all, I’m still holding on to that glitter eye stick I purchased from Claire’s in 8th grade. Today, let’s resolve to rid our lives of those ancient cosmetic products and embrace a more simplified version of beauty.

WOMEN IN NUMBERS: 40

Even if you’re not a beauty junkie like me, chances are if you actually counted all the little beauty-product odds and ends you have stashed in your vanity, you’d realize you have dozens. According to a recent cosmetics-company survey, the average woman owns a whopping 40 makeup products, including everything from mascara to blush and nail polish. And unless you’re a Kardashian, you likely use only about five of those products daily.

WOMAN TO WATCH: Cheryl Yannotti Foland, Founder and CEO of Lilah Beauty Inc.

Today’s Woman to Watch knows more than most of us that there’s power and truth behind the philosophy that with less, we are more. Cheryl Yannotti Foland is a beauty-industry veteran with more than a decade of experience. After relocating from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan to the West Coast, she began to embrace a simpler and less cluttered life, and soon realized the beauty industry was due for a similar makeover. That’s when she launched a lovely cosmetics brand called lilah b., which features a streamlined color collection of luxurious, multi-purpose makeup products that make looking and feeling beautiful a lot less complicated for the modern woman.

The genius of lilah b. products is that, in addition to being healthy and skin-kind, they don’t compromise on performance or long-wearing characteristics, as Cheryl’s whole goal was to offer women the ease of a simplified beauty routine without having to reapply makeup throughout the day and still look fabulous.

InStyle named lilah b.’s lip & cheek color a Best Beauty Buy for 2016. With beautiful hues like bright pink, true red and champagne shimmer, this long-lasting yet creamy and moisturizing product is made to be used—you guessed it—on both your lips and cheeks. And unlike other cosmetics, it was created to be buildable color, meaning all the wearer needs to do is simply dab on a little bit more to increase the depth of color. It’s the perfect two-in-one makeup for transitioning lips and cheeks from a more natural daytime look to a glamorous night-on-the-town style.

Best of all, Cheryl ensures her beauty products are crafted with exceptional purity. lilah b. never uses parabens, synthetic fragrances or sulfates. The products combine nourishing and moisturizing ingredients, like aloe and beneficial botanicals. They’re vegan-friendly and never tested on animals. lilah b.’s luxurious formulas were designed to deliver a healthy, glowing finish, and are definitely love at first touch.

Cheryl encourages women to be thoughtful and mindful about our purchase decisions, and to make changes regarding our beauty regimes, like decluttering, minimizing and simplifying our routines with purposeful products. As Cheryl says, beauty should be about quality, not quantity.

Thanks, Cheryl, for creating a wonderful minimalist cosmetics line that proves that just a little bit of the right makeup can make us all feel like a million bucks!

QUITE THE QUOTE

I’ll leave you today with a little positivity in the form of Cheryl Yannotti Foland’s personal mantra:

“Work hard, persevere and enjoy the journey, but be sure to maintain a balance along the way.”
